Akbank Executive Vice President Ege Gültekin, one of the successful and experienced names in the financial world, attended the seminar titled "Finance Talks-3" organized by the Department of International Trade and Finance of İzmir University of Economics on May 5, 2017. The main topic of the seminar, attended by academicians as well as students, was the “Nonperforming Loans”. Prof. Dr. Hasan Fehmi Baklacı, Acting Dean of Faculty of Business, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülin Vardar, Head of International Trade and Finance Department, have made the opening speech and said welcome to the speaker. Having started the presentation by talking about his resume, Ege Gültekin conveyed her experiences to the students by talking about how she climbed the career steps and the difficulties she experienced. Gültekin also gave information about the bank's structure and its main activities, and emphasized that we have gone through a rapid and digital change and that the majority of future professions have not yet emerged. She told that they are receiving support from artificial intelligence, large data, and robots in order to catch up with the future, and how they improved themselves in the fields of digital money and banking. Gültekin said that although technology is expected to raise unemployment, human power is always needed in the banking sector, and added that 14,000 people work in Akbank and 65% of them are from generation Y. Gültekin, who also gave information about her own career steps, was accompanied by Izmir Regional Manager Kayhan Beyhan and Human Resources Manager Çağlar Kucur. While Kayhan Beyhan gave information about internship and job opportunities to the students, Çağlar Kucur told the students that aimed for careers in banking, and job applications and the steps and processes following the application. At the end of the seminar, students took a very important step towards determining their career goals by asking the lecturers questions about both internship and the business world.
