Turkey will be the world's new power source
Proximity to markets worldwide to effectively fight the epidemic coronavirus and supply power in many industries has brought Turkey into the key country. Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Logistics Management Department Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Bengü Sevil Oflaç stated that being addicted to China posed a great risk and many countries and companies saw this clearly during the epidemic period. "By making new investments and technological moves of global supply chain configurations Turkey will become an important player. Through the proximity to key markets, power supply in many industries and ensured quality, Turkey will be an alternative to China", she added.
TIED TO EACH OTHER LIKE DOMINO STONES
Assoc. Dr. Oflaç said, “We are in a process where the importance of supply chains and logistic operations is better understood. Currently, every logistics operation for companies is fragile and at risk. At this point, companies have a great duty to protect human health and operations. Necessary measures must be taken in all logistics operations, warehouses, transportation, distribution. It should be seen that a break in the supply chains will have a domino effect and the measures should be handled in a holistic way.For example, the fact that some organizations cannot be organized within the scope of social distance has not only hit the companies or venue owners that provide organization services, but also the flower industry. Because all the players in the supply chains are interconnected like dominoes.”
Stating that the supply-demand balances changed on a global basis due to the pandemic, Assoc. Dr. Oflaç said, “Many reasons such as travel restrictions, closed borders and additional health and hygiene inspections to border crossings have caused delays and delays in supply chains around the world. In many countries, there were difficulties in finding workers in agriculture. In some industries, chains that are broken are reflected on prices. She also added "There are goods left by the manufacturer due to falling demand and products that cannot be produced due to supply problems."
BENEFITING FROM OPPORTUNITIES
“With the pandemic process, companies that attach importance to risk analysis and combine technology with proactive solutions will survive. In addition, artificial intelligence will gain importance with the technologies that will follow the supply chains and provide information flow. The pandemic period changed the balances economically. Some countries will come to the fore with their geographical location and power in supply in the post-epidemic period. Turkey is located at the beginning of the list. With new investments and technological moves, Turkey will become an important player in global supply chain configurations. Through the power supply in many industries, advantages of proximity to key markets and ensured quality, Turkey will be an alternative to China. It is possible for us to use this advantage in more industries by increasing local suppliers in quality and capacity thanks to development programs in industries where we have less competitive power. Turkey should seize the opportunity in the best way. "she said.
