Outstanding Young Scientist Award

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Kentmen Çin, Lecturer at IUE Faculty of Business, Department of Political Science and International Relations, has been awarded the “Outstanding Young Scientist Award (GEBIP), 2014” of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) in the field of political science.

Jean Monnet Chair

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Bürgin, Head of EURAC has been awarded a Jean Monnet Chair by the European Commission in August 2015. In Turkey, in total only two professors have been selected as Jean Monnet Chairs in 2015. A Jean Monnet Chair is a title assigned to university professors with a specialisation in European Union studies, including financial support for three years. In the academic community, the Jean Monnet Chair is recognised as a sign of excellence.

AIMING FOR EUROPE

A team of five students from Izmir University of Economics made it to the finals at the 12th CFA Institute Research Challenge organized by the CFA Institute (Certified Financial Analyst), which is among the most respected international institutions in the field of Finance.

16 of the Turkey's leading universities participated to the CFA Institute Research Challenge. The main aim of the Challenge is to make a financial analysis of a picked Borsa Istanbul Company and to report it. Izmir University of Economics students; received full marks from the jury on many topics such as analysis capability, risk assessment and sectorial foresight. On February 27th, IUE team will compete in the finals that will be held in Istanbul. As a front-runner, if team IUE can hold the first place, the winner of Challenge will represent Turkey at the European championships, which will be held in Jordan with the participation of 45 universities.
