Organized in a collaboration between the IUE Political Science and International Relations Department and BAYETAV, the panel discussion titled “Global Politics in an Age of Uncertainty,” was held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at BAYETAV Academy.

The 4th National Political Science Congress of the Turkish Political Science Association was held at our university on September 20–21.

Faculty member of the IUE Political Science and International Relations, Dr. Umut Can Adısönmez published a new co-authored work in the Policy Studies (Q1) journal: “Faith and Force: Imposition, Dissemination, and Transnationalization of Religion in Türkiye and Iran.”

Faculty member of the IUE Department of Political Science and International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sıtkı Egeli participated as a guest speaker at the Advisory Board meeting of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium (EUNPDC).

Faculty member of the IUE Department of Political Science and International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serhun Al participated as a speaker in the symposium titled “Culture and Ecological Transformation for a Sustainable Mediterranean,” hosted by the Izmir Mediterranean Academy last week. 

Faculty member of IUE Political Science and International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serhun Al visited the United States last month. During his stay, he collaborated with Dr. Nathan Young from the Ohio State University on a joint teaching project that will connect our students with Ohio State students through online sessions next semester. 

Faculty member of the IUE Political Science and International Relations, Prof. Çiğdem Kentmen Çin has presented her work, co-authored with our Research Asst. Dr. Nil Dikmengil, titled “Determinants of Public Support for Ukrainian Refugees in the EU”, at the 22nd Annual Conference of IMISCOE (International Migration Research Network), held this year in Paris-Aubervilliers.

Faculty member of IUE Political Science and International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serhun Al’s project, titled “Forms of Nationalism in İzmir: Perceptions, Attitudes, and Negotiations”, has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 1001 program.

Research Assistant in the IUE Political Science and International Relations, Batıkan Bulut, has successfully completed his six-month visiting research stay at the GIGA – German Institute for Global and Area Studies in Hamburg, Germany, under the supervision of Dr. Christiane Fröhlich.

Faculty member of the IUE Political Science and International Relations, Dr. Umut Can Adısönmez and Assoc. Prof. Helin Sarı Ertem have completed the special issue “Turkey’s Violent Tango with the West” in the journal Critical Studies on Security with the publication of their Introductory Article.
