We are pleased to announce that the book chapter titled “Emerging Disruptive Technologies and the Problem of Awareness Gap: Challenges and Remedies” by our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sıtkı Egeli has been published in Implication of Emerging Threats for the Security of NATO and GCC, published by Palgrave Macmillan. 

Asst. Prof. Dr. Umut Can Adısönmez from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), has been awarded the “2026 Young Scientist Encouragement Award” by the International Relations Council (UIK), one of the most prestigious honors in the field.

Our faculty members and PhD students participated in various panels and sessions at the XI International Relations Studies and Education Congress, organized by the International Relations Council of Turkey (UIK) on 7–10 May 2026.

We are pleased to announce that our faculty member Dr. Umut Can Adısönmez was granted the 2026 International Relations Council (UIK) Young Scientist Encouragement Award.

Faculty member of the IUE Department of Political Science and International Relations, Dr. Umut Can Adısönmez has published a new co-authored article in the SSCI Q1 journal Southeast European and Black Sea Studies.

The second annual ‘Brand Craft’ event, focused on digital marketing and organized by Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Business, brought together over 100 talented young individuals from 20 high schools. 

Faculty member of the IUE Political Science and International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sıtkı Egeli participated as a speaker in a webinar organized by the French think tank FRS (Fondation Recherches Stratégiques): “Shield and Sword: The Impact of Missile Defence on Missile Proliferation.”

Faculty member of the IUE Political Science and International Relations, Dr. Umut Can Adısönmez attended a workshop organized by the Crisis Response Council and the Middle East Peace and Security (MEPS) Forum at the American University at Duhok, Iraq: “In the Shadow of Geopolitics: Conflict Resolution & Human Security in the Middle East.”

Faculty member of the IUE Political Science and International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Devrim Sezer published a new co-authored article in the Politics and Space journal: “Ephemeral Architectures, Fugitive Assemblies: The Romantic Imaginaries of Assembly Democracy in the Gezi Protests.”

Faculty member of the IUE Political Science and International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Devrim Sezer participated in the “Public Lectures” series organized as part of the 10th anniversary gathering of Good Design Izmir, themed “Dirlik” (Vitality).
